Google will cooperate with the world’s largest Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi car manufacturing alliance to install Android on millions of cars in these brands, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The new generation of branded computer systems will come with Android in 2021.

Car drivers will have access to Google maps, app store, and virtual assistant.

The new partnership is a major step for Google’s ambitions. Only in the first half of this year, this alliance has sold 5.5 million cars ahead of Volkswagen and Toyota.

Alliance executives have stated that what has mostly affected this decision is that users are familiar with Google services and applications.

Other manufacturers like Volkswagen have also integrated the Android operating system of their vehicles. Volvo has also promised that the new generation of computer systems will come with Android.
